A Polk County deputy was responding to a breaking and entering in progress call when his vehicle went off the side of the road at about 8:45 a.m.
Rescue workers were able to remove the deputy who had been trapped in his patrol car along Chesnee Road.
The deputy was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
The identity of the deputy has not been released and the extent of the injuries are not yet known.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

A Polk County deputy's vehicle is taken away after the deputy was involved in a single vehicle wreck on Chesnee Road around 8:45a.m. while responding to a breaking and entry in progress call. The deputy, who was trapped in his vehicle, was airlifted from the scene.
