Here's another example. On April 7, the commissioners approved a request for rezoning in our neighborhood granting the applicant a 50 percent density bonus. The planning department staff and technical review committee opposed the rezoning on the grounds that it was inconsistent with the provisions of the comprehensive plan which discourage development on steep slopes and in areas not planned for public sewer and water.
Not a single commissioner responded to our letter expressing concerns and questions. In their campaign ads, both incumbents took credit for passing the comprehensive plan and managing growth in our county. But actions speak louder than words! It's no surprise that voters are unwilling to trust more of their hard-earned money and their liberty to the politicians.
