James “Jim” Edward Reece, 89, of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Elizabeth House, Four Seasons Hospice.

He was born in Trade, Tenn., on Feb. 22, 1919, and grew up there and around the Bristol area. He proudly served his country in the Army. He later joined the C.C. Camp in Tennessee. He is survived by a son, Bob Styles of Asheville; daughters, Mary Reece Sprouse of Flat Rock and Carolyn Reece Ford of Cleveland, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and another great-grandchild expected in January. He is also surived by three sisters, Velda Wells of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Pearl Carlson of Glade Springs, Va., and Lucille (Velma) Cohen of Winchester, Va.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He attended the Hendersonville Church of Christ. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. The visitation will be at 1 p.m. with the funeral following at 2 p.m. A military burial will follow at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 19. The Rev. Jerry Sinn and Rev. Philip Murdock will officiate. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Elizabeth House at Four Season’s Hospice of Hendersonville. Condolences may be e-mailed by visiting www.webbfh.com and signing the guestbook.
