Monday, July 21. Join the High Country Hikers for a strenuous nine-mile hike on the Mountains-to-Sea trail (call 697.1307 for more information), or an easy five mile “Mystery Hike” in DuPont State Forest (call 692.4982 for more information).

Sunday, July 27 ­— Songcatchers Music Series at the Cradle of Forestry in the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard. Old-time musician and storyteller John Fowler will perform at 2 p.m. The East Fork Gals open this last concert in this year’s series.
